Tradeshow season is among us and I am sure your agents are looking forward to their regional or national conferences. Please make sure you share this piece of simple advance before they leave: Do not plug in any found USB drives. Seems easy to do right? Yet 48% of all people who find one plug them into their computer per a cyber awareness study conducted by researchers from Google, the University of Illinois and the University of Michigan.
Once the drive is plugged in it can inflict various malicious cyber-attacks but the most common are either gaining complete control over your computer to transfer files to the attacker, ransomware to lockup your computer or code to capture your username and password credentials to value websites.
If you are curious about more details here is a link. Special thanks to Elie Bursztein’s work on this subject.
